Meet the OneUp team

Rick Simmons and Scott Somerville have a deep love of building and good design, and are passionate about every project they take on.

As co-owners and managing directors of One Up building, Rick and Scott have worked together for over 20 years. They are both licensed builders and carpenters, and building is in their blood.

Having gained their early experience working alongside their mentors in luxury home construction and management in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, the pair have gone on to build a business with a reputation for exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to realise an architect and client’s vision, without compromising on the design integrity.

Rick’s key role in One Up Building is project management, which involves communicating with clients and stakeholders to ensure the smooth transition between each stage of the project.

Scott is responsible for ensuring each project meets One Up Building’s own rigorous standards for quality and excellence by personally overseeing the selection of all of the materials and inspecting the workmanship at every stage of the project.

Our clientele and reputation has evolved by providing quality, service and reliability. Repeat business and long standing relationships are testimonial to the dedication we offer.

“We pride ourselves in building homes for our clients that are considered. Our process during the construction phase is to be enjoyed, celebrating the forms as they come to life, sharing experiences and relationships." Rick Simmons

Nathan Wethered

Project Co-Ordinator, Northern Rivers

Nathan heads up our northern rivers team, serving as project co-ordinator on the ground.

A true master craftsman with an eye for detail, Nathan is a licensed builder and carpenter. Nathan began his career with OneUp in 2006 at the age of 16 as an apprentice carpenter.

As OneUp’s longest serving employee, Nathan has progressed through the ranks to qualify as a carpenter, and then to running sites for some of OneUp’s luxury home projects.

Closely mentored by Rick and Scott on some of Sydney’s most complex and beautifully designed and built luxury homes, Nathan has flourished. He has a client-centric attitude, great communication skills, good subcontractor relationships and possesses a can-do attitude onsite that is infectious with the team.

Nathan has proven himself to be a recognised member of the firm and a respected leader. When the opportunity arose to relocate to the northern rivers of NSW, Nathan jumped at the chance to take on a challenge as project co-ordinator for OneUp Northern Rivers.
